Elizabeth Switzer is an emerging hybrid-media artist, writer, and curator who currently resides in Rochester, NY.

Her interest in art began in childhood, growing up in a working class family in the rural town of Sodus, NY. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from SUNY Oswego, she was awarded a full scholarship for the MFA program at the University at Buffalo Art Department in Buffalo, NY. Entering graduate school as a painting major she has now moved to installation and performance work, which she also exhibits through the use of digital photography. She graduated from the University at Buffalo in May of 2004.

In her work she elicits humor and exaggeration through gross fascination with the feminine dis-eased body. By beginning with the personal she is given access to the viewers comfort level, as objects of comfort become objects of distress. Recently her painting, sculptural and installation work has been shown in solo, group and three-person exhibitions in and around New York State, at the Burchfield – Penney Art Center, A|V Gallery, and the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center.
